I cannot hide my excitement – SoSofia has its first interview published! This month .Net Magazine chose our blog to be reviewed in a rubric that explores the blogosphere.

    net

On the picture you can see me (in a gangsta hood) and a small picture of how our blog looks like.

Oh, and the interview itself – I was asked questions like What is SoSofia.com all about? or Where does the name of the blog come from? which made me explain in length about our ideas and concept, how the blog changes through time and what are our future plans. I really enjoyed answering the questions!

I consider this interview as a sign that our efforts to keep you informed are not left unnoticed and as a true appreciation for what we do!

    Sodiadanceweek

We expect Sofia Dance Week for a second time! The festival aims at bringing aesthetic pleasure and new cultural models to its participants and this will not be possible without the presence of the best European dance companies and choreographers.

Last year’s first edition was a definite and determined expression of the fact that Bulgarians need to rethink the way art is made, distributed and perceived in our country.

Sofia Dance Week begins on the 24th of September and ends at the 1st of October, so we all should start setting our minds to a dance mode. You can do this successfully by nodding your head and  tapping with your finger tips while on your way to buy tickets for the various dance events.

    Nikolaj Najdenov Trenirovki v Sofia

The city of Montana is not only famous for its numerous fountains in the center or the nearby fortress, named Montanensium but it possesses also the biggest halfpipe in the Balkans (not pictured). This fact gives it the status of a magnetic place for cool and extreme subcultures!

This weekend – Friday 4th to Sunday 6th – you will witness some of the best riders of inline halfpipe skaters from across the world  in Montana, including Bulgaria’s own world champions – Nikolai Naidenov, Kiril Trayanov and Pavel Mitrenga!

The Bulgarian competition to be held in Montana will be the focus of the inline world attention. This is the second stop in the European Championship series and the best Amateur riders will go on to compete in the European Championship Halfpipe Finals in Rotterdam, Holland.

And when the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the main supporter of the event which is otherwise organized by A.I.S.A. DISASTER, there is no chance to see mediocre performances. Furthermore, our friends from Vertigo would also take an active participation.

    open-air.jpg

Things are starting to wind up around here. Finally! Doesn’t it seem like forever ago that we went to one of these things? Let’s tell this June gloom to get off and go to a good party.

Prepare your tents and direct yourselves to the 9th annual d’n'b summer festival, organized by HMSU!

It is extremely easy to go there since it has direct public transport to the village where the event is going to be.

After the rainy days, we all need lots of sunshine and massive sounds so that we could feel at last what is the summer season all about. The event promises various electronic styles, all rooted in the tradition of drum and bass. Moreover, the festival has no analogue in the Balkans! Yey!

I fully support dubstep, so I cannot wait to feel how my organs tremble at the power of sound. 40 hours in a row. Last year, the organization was perfect and you should have seen the wall of loudspeakers. It produced this wow effect we all needed.

There’s no point resisting, so don’t bother. And don’t forget your freezebees, badminton rackets, heks, balls and hats because fun is what matters!

What is important, however, are the spectacular tricks that would be performed in the air with the speed of light! Apart from the solid international presence, the Bulgarian Air Forces are preparing to show their achievements as well!

Lets take over the skies and to observe how professionalism and art are combined!

    spring.jpg

As if touched with a magic stick all the trees, bushes and weeds turned out to be green and white and yellow. The difference is more than obvious and apart from the new scenery, there is a metamorphosis in our mood as well. People feel so good when it is getting warmer and warmer – we think that the living is easy.

Spring has come in Sofia as well.

     city.jpg

The students from the Department of Sociology at Sofia University know how to spend their time – by uniting themselves in an association, in particular Association of the Sociology Students in Sofia University (ASSSU). As a result, they have become more powerful and now we even see that among all other activities, they have managed to organize a photo contest. A serious one. So serious, that they invite you and me to join with our own photos.

The theme is “The city as a context of …” and here we are expected to propose our versions of what we think is suitable to fit in the dots. In short, we are left to decide. We may submit up to three photos in black & white or in color; in digital format or printed on paper; new shots or old photos from our archives.

The best ones will take part in a special exhibition in the Department of Sociology.

The contest has a deadline as well – 25.04.2009. So, hurry, we don’t have time!

The e-mail on which you can send your works is pictures.urban@gmail.com
