Now let your imagination flow for what it may be called an excellent dinner in a fine restaurant. Start from the very entrance – round, white and dimly lighted in the shape of a curved tunnel. At first, you don’t really know where it leads to but as you move forward the view enlarges, allowing you to appear in the main part of Maison Godet.
Once you sit, you start noticing details of the place – the lofty walls, the way light is used, the wooden elements – all of which hint at the main pride of the owners – French cognac and wines Godet, having inspired the name of the restaurant itself.

The food, I believe, is equally inspiring and French. Served in beautiful plates, it impresses both in the way it looks and tastes. My choice in this case was Atlantic salmon steamed with sauce Hollandaise and stewed vegetables after which I reached the conclusion that we are dealing with professional creations aiming at providing pleasure. And they really do.
Furthermore, waiters who are eager to help you in any way, also contribute to this first-class experience by making reasoned recommendations so that you find yourself carefree and indulged in a long conversation, accompanied by a bottle of French wine.
What I was shown in Maison Godet was how a flawless dinner should both look and taste like, so I really encourage you to experience it by yourselves. What is equally interesting are the reasonable prices that such an exclusive place maintains.
The address of Maison Godet is 17 Al. Stamboliyski Blvd.

October 13th, 2009SportsThe Bulgarian Supermoto Grand Prix was the right event to visit at the end of the memorable weekend. We literary used our last left physical powers to be on the spot, on time and in shape for a new experience.

As newcomers, we weren’t really familiar with the whole setting but what we knew in theory was the news about the new tribune which can cram up to 3000 people, the importance of Bulgarians winning the golden medal and that adrenaline is transmittable and highly addictive.

When we found all these chunks of information materialized, suddenly things looked different. We were filled with range of emotions, a new energy and will to help our guys get the prize. Because we also knew about the efforts, the time, the money and the hopes spent for realizing such event which has long gained international recognition and importance.
This was a real competition.

Supermoto Grand Prix is organized on a regular basis in the city of Dolna Mitropolia, next to Pleven city – about 160km away from Sofia. Such kinds of competitions gather really keen and devoted motorist fans who use the occasion to exchange the latter gossips in the motor world (and to show their newest machines).

It was the second time that we managed to eat in this restaurant, the first one we reached the conclusion that having a reservation is best. Not always, though as we proceeded with the same determination as before – we ushered in the restaurant, feverishly looking around for a table for two. And there it was – in the nonsmoking area – our table for four.
What is different about Pastorant Restaurant is that it specializes in Italian cuisine, in particular – pasta. As you can imagine, the pasta ranges a lot, having names which are unfamiliar to me, thus hard to remember. However, the way they sound is typically Italian in unison with the whole setting. Besides, the waitress was kind, calm and she made us laugh, calling me and my friend good girls because we ate everything. Yes, thank you, we are good girls, indeed.
One would almost suggest that the mafia were the only ones missing, since the couples in love were all around. Perfect.
A dinner for two in Pastorant Restaurant would be about 60 Levas.

October 5th, 2009TripsJust as some Sofians do, you too cannot miss taking the train to Plovdiv, for example. My few tips to a pleasant experience would be:
- Do not do it on holidays since you risk lack of personal space;
- Elder people like to talk, so if you feel like talking, start a conversation or wait a while; otherwise, just avoid their presence;
- Too many young people create unnecessary noise. By following the above example – whether to join or not – you have three choices: a) you align yourself with the youngsters b) you unite with the elder c) you stare through the window with the headphones on.

Generally, the best time to travel is by the afternoon train. The flow of people is not that big and you can freely choose where to sit (if you haven’t reserved seats at the ticket desk beforehand). The compartments instill a sentimental feeling of traveling back in time, not in space while you hear the never ending sound of the train wheels. The retro setting and smell further unwind the imagination, making your thoughts range from wondering where you are to asking yourself where are you going. This is the moment, however, when you feel certain that you would travel long.

October 5th, 2009The Wine I LikeWith absolutely no pretenses that I understand wine, I rely on my own taste.
This wine produced by Telish appears to me as light and mellow.
