I cannot hide my excitement – SoSofia has its first interview published! This month .Net Magazine chose our blog to be reviewed in a rubric that explores the blogosphere.

    net

On the picture you can see me (in a gangsta hood) and a small picture of how our blog looks like.

Oh, and the interview itself – I was asked questions like What is SoSofia.com all about? or Where does the name of the blog come from? which made me explain in length about our ideas and concept, how the blog changes through time and what are our future plans. I really enjoyed answering the questions!

I consider this interview as a sign that our efforts to keep you informed are not left unnoticed and as a true appreciation for what we do!

I believe in vintage clothes for several reasons. Firstly, you buy quality and very often unique items for less money. Consequently, you can experiment with the clothes by cutting or resizing them, making them having your own attitude, without fear of destroying something that costs a lot of money. It is always good to be economical and creative.

Most essentially, however is the fact that there’s no better medicine for the environment than our contribution. We must start thinking more and more about being nature-friendly and by wearing vintage clothes we actually oppose the traditional consumer society and use what has been already redundant.

That is why Placebo shop is important when it comes to shopping. What I particularly like about it is that the clothes have undergone careful selection, thus  we are provided with interesting ideas for any season or occasion. In addition, you can find lots of other stuff as well such as accessories, bags, badges and funky first-hand t-shirts made by local artists – all suitable to surprise your friends with presents.

The friendly staff makes you feel at ease and often I find myself in the changing rooms with uncountable number of clothes.

Find Placebo shop on 51 Shishman str. and on 28 Yri Venelin str.

    metro
    The apparition of these faces in the crowd;
Petals on a wet, black bough.

Unlike Ezra Pound, I did not feel a moment of revelation and intense emotion while hanging out on a metro station that resulted in his world-famous haiku, taken decades to be finished. What I felt while going underground was just mere curiosity mixed with free time and a will to roam around. Well, I got inspired and started thinking about the poet while waiting pointlessly for the train – the one which I did not take, just anticipated its appearance and tracked down its departure. I paid a Lev for such an experience and I don’t regret it as I felt different from the crowd – not a traveller but an observer.

I remembered the poet’s words that “In a poem of this sort one is trying to record the precise instant when a thing outward and objective transforms itself, or darts into a thing inward and subjective.” Pound contrasts the factual, mundane image that he actually witnessed with a metaphor from nature and thus infuses this “apparition” with visual beauty.

Its highly impressive how the economy of language provokes an array of feelings, materialized by the industrial setting. As a conclusion, I am proud to announce that not so long ago the metro trains run to the two ends of Sofia – Obelya and Mladost. The trip takes 20 minutes – enough for you to experience a strong hunger for art of any kind.

Price of the ticket – 1 Lev.

    vestibule

Vestibule Cafe saved me once when after work I almost got home to sleep. Oh, no! It was one of those days in which the work load and the other restless nights just made me unable to lead amusing conversations, to be ready for unexpected invitations and as a whole – be at my best. Luckily, my afternoon, as you can guess, was rescued when a true friend said she knows a place where such conditions could be fixed – a cozy one with nice furniture. She was totally right judging from the way the rest of the night progressed.

Vestibule Cafe specializes in coffee making and at first it gets really hard to choose among the great variety. Logically, such an abundance requires special techniques and one could make the difference. We did this by ordering 3 different types – 2 types cappuccino and a Turkish coffee as well, being careful not to get overpowered. You probably know that the dregs of the Turkish coffee are magical and allow for interpreting what lies in store for you. So we shared the Turkish coffee agreeing to share a common destiny as well since every table is provided with a leaflet which tells fortunes.  What we saw in our cup was a phoenix and fire, there was a mountain as well and a strange animal, probably coming from another dimension. Not all of the symbols were described in the leaflet but i got the feeling that the future is bright for us.

    liutika

I found this recipe in the Bulgarian National Cuisine cookbook, originating from Lepica village, around the city of Vratsa. It turned out to be really tasty – a perfect appetizer or a salad, it depends how you arrange things. So the ingredients are:

1 kg (10 to 12) Green peppers (Kapia)

    250 g (4 or 5) Tomatoes

    150 g (1 teacup) White Cheese

60 ml (1/3 teacup) olive oil

4 or 5 cloves of garlic

    salt

    love

The peppers – you do several actions with them – roast them, peel them, remove the seeds, then chop and bray them. Add the cheese and the finely cut tomatoes. Then the chopped cloves of garlic, the olive oil and the salt. Then stir passionately.

    Enjoy!

    stroezha

Oh, that dubstep party at Monday made me believe that the weekend could successfully be extended! We can resist the Friday, the Saturday, the Sunday, and go party at Monday, though with pains in the back!

First of all there were so many people both in front and inside Stroezha that we literary found it hard to reach the closest to the door bar. Then, elbowing our way through the crowd and pass by the walls, we reached the source of the music, the DJs from Mirizma who made the people delirious.

The mythical proportions that Stroezha bar has acquired cannot be compared to any other place. It welcomes people with different tastes in underground culture, often with disastrous consequences – imagine what happens when a whole bar starts pogo. You don’t get the feeling that an earthquake has started but you see a live whirlpool from which you can’t really escape. Well, in the bathroom maybe is safe as you get the chance to be alone for a while.

I’ve seen such phenomenon only there, happening on a regular basis, making me respectful. Furthermore, I know people whose appearance at the entrances of various clubs makes the security guards united in defense, in Stroezha however, they are treated like V.I.Ps. Amazing.

Visit Stroezha Bar anytime. The address is Studentski Grad Block 23, entrance B; Tel: 962 59 77
Working hours: Monday to Sunday, 10am-4am
