The airport is not big, so the chances that you might get lost inside are almost naught.

It is situated in the outskirts of Sofia so it doesn’t take much time to get to the centre of the city. The distance from the airport to downtown is approximately 15km. So the question how to get downtown arises. You have 2 choices – either with a taxi or with the public transport.

If you have decided to take the taxi, you should know that there is only one company – OK Supertrans – which is authorised by the Sofia Airport. They are located in Arrivals hall near by the taxi rank. Or it is better if you order one from the office which is located in the arrivals hall.

This means that you should not be misled by people who walk around and offer you taxis, those guys will charge you double, triple or even in euros over the normal price which is about 10.00 BGN (5 Euros).

Taking the public transport is very easy.

Sofia Airport is divided into two terminals and the bus stops are right in front of them. If you have arrived at terminal 1, you should take bus line 84, otherwise, when you arrive at terminal 2, the number of the bus line is 284. A ticket costs 1 Lev. Bus driver sell them as well but you have to prepare the exact money.

You should buy a separate ticket for your baggage if it is more than 1 suitcase. Both lines will bring you right in the centre of Sofia, where Orlov most (Eagle’s bridge) is.

Find out about arriving at Central Railway Station and Central Bus Station.

  1. Do you have any information about buying daily travel passes? Can this be done at the airport?

  2. Sorry, I don’t have such information. There is an information section on the airport which would give you the proper answer.

  3. what bus will take me from the central railway station to the airport? any help would be appreciated :)

  4. Unfortunately, there is no direct bus from the central railway to the airport. You have to take a bus (numbers 313, 413, 305) that goes to Orlov Most (Eagle’s Bridge) and then take bus number 284 (for terminal 2) and 84 (for 1st terminal).
Be careful with the taxis. Some of them have higher prices, so compare. The usual price is 0.58 leva per kilometer. Approximately 0.60 leva as a starting price.

  5. and prices for buses?

  6. a ticket costs 1 lev. you’ll need 2 levas if you take 2 buses.
