Skip the tourist traps, travel like a local.

Visiting a city in Eastern Europe is always exciting, but sometimes a bit of a puzzle. That's why we have a few recommendations for you, which would make moving through Sofia easier, faster, greener and cheaper.

We've selected a few transport applications and services which will do you wonders.

The first thing you should know when considering transport options is that Sofia Airport Terminal 2 has a subway station. For those flying from/to Terminal 1, there are free transfers every 30 minutes from 07:00 to 19:00. A one-way ticket for the subway costs 1.60 BGN which is about 0.80 EUR. There are also options for a full-day or three-days pass.

You can use the Urban Mobility Center's website for suggested routes and timings regarding the public transport including the Sofia subway (Nor Google or Moovit offers Sofia Metro Schedules...)

Do you feel like cruising with an electric vehicle? We are used to it in Sofia. Spark offers electric cars, with the price calculated on the minutes you spend driving. When used smart, it is cheaper than taxis and much fancier. You can even rent it for a whole day, for a silly price.

Yellow Taxi's is one of the biggest taxi companies in Sofia. Their drivers have the best reputation on the streets. Quite similar to TaxiMe, with the difference that it is dedicated to one company. (Their cost is: 0.79 lv./km day and 0.90 lv./km night).

The mother of Taxi Apps in Bulgaria, TaxiMe works only with selected, quality taxi drivers from different companies, who charge standard taxi rates in Sofia (lower or equal to: 0.79 lv./km day and 0.90 lv./km night). While placing the order, the app provides an estimated time of travel and cost. Nothing revolutionary, but working great.

Moovit is a new player on the market, but it fills in an important gap. They use Sofia's Public Transport data and turn it into your best friend. Public transport will always be the cheapest option for traversing the city and this app helps you solve the puzzle.
