Western Gate of Serdica Archaeological Park

This is another great example of the multi-layered history of the city. The West Gate of Ancient Serdika is one of the most significant constructions, which were completed in the II century during the time of the rule of Marcus Aurelius. The entire archeological complex includes important elements of the fortification of the city – the pentagonal tower at the gate, the triangular tower at the fortification wall, parts of the fortification wall itself and even remnants of the street network from that time.

#soSofia tip: You can take a break at the benches outside the complex and visit the information centre to learn more.
