The Boyana Church is famous for its medieval frescoes and is listed as a cultural monument on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

It is located in the Boyana district of Sofia, at the foot of Vitosha Mountain. The church has undergone several construction phases, the first of which dates to the 10th–11th centuries, when a small cross-domed church was built. In the 13th century, a narthex was added to the western façade, with a small chapel built above it. In the mid-19th century, a two-storey vestibule was added.
