This Neo-Byzantine building in the city centre was the first covered market, where meat, fish, vegetables, dairy products and poultry were sold. It is not often that you can see archaeological finds in shopping centres, but here you can, in the building’s basement, where artefacts from Old Serdica are displayed. The Central Halls were completed in 1911 and were declared a cultural monument of national importance in 1955. Now, as well as food, you can find clothes and accessories from Bulgarian brands here, as well as grab a quick bite to eat at one of the fast-food outlets.
