The National History Museum (NIM) is situated at the foot of Vitosha Mountain, in the Boyana district. Established in 1973, the museum houses Bulgaria’s most valuable treasures and relics – a total of over half a million cultural artefacts, treasures, textiles, icons, ethnographic artefacts, archaeological finds and historical archives. In 2000, the museum was moved to the former main residence of the last communist leader, Todor Zhivkov. The museum includes a cloakroom, a café, a library and a gift shop.
