Originally founded in 1949 with funds provided by the actress Mara Penkova, Bulgaria’s first puppet theatre attracted such widespread public attention that, two years later, the company was granted the status of a professional state puppet theatre.

Every year, children can choose from over 30 shows, whilst adults can enjoy entertaining and thought-provoking performances, such as Jeff Whitty’s Broadway musical “Avenue Q”.
