The ‘Hadzhi Dimitar’ housing estate is one of the most visited neighbourhoods outside the city centre. The reason is the huge variety of graffiti depicted on the gables of the prefabricated blocks. It all began in the summer of 2013, when the Souls in Walls festival, organised by Yasen Geshev, took place, featuring some of the most talented graffiti artists from Bulgaria and abroad (ETAM CRU (Poland), BOZKO and NASIMO (Bulgaria)). At that time, three of the walls were painted with vivid images. This neighbourhood was chosen because Yasen and BOZKO were living there at the time. Over the following years, the URBAN CREATURES team painted dozens of blocks, which today attract the interest of tourists.

There is one block, however, that takes your breath away – No. 57B. There, since 2013, Grandpa Dobri has been watching over the neighbourhood with a gentle gaze. NASIMO isn’t simply painting a portrait. He has inscribed on the wall 26 qualities that make a person good – ‘honesty’, ‘humility’, ‘generosity’. It is interesting to note that when the artwork began to adorn the neighbourhood, Grandpa Dobri was still alive. “The Saint of Baylovo”, as many call him, passed away in early 2018.
