One of the favourite spots for a stroll and a rest among residents of the Hadzhi Dimitar neighbourhood is the park of the same name on McGahan Street. The place is a favourite with families because of its large children’s playground, surrounded by benches where parents can sit. When you visit the park, you are likely to come across some of the little ones playing happily around an imposing monument. It depicts Hadzhi Dimitar in half-length. The voivode is portrayed in a rebel uniform with weapons slung across his chest. The inscription bearing the hero’s name is placed on the lower part of the pedestal, as, according to local residents’ recollections, the original letters were stolen years ago and today the central part of the pedestal is covered with sheet metal.

The small garden around the monument used to be enclosed by metal railings, which no longer exist. Nevertheless, and despite the lack of information regarding the statue’s creator, the monument now stands proudly in one of the central areas of the housing estate.
