Behind the old baths at Ovcha Kupel, nestled amongst trees and memories of a slower-paced era, lies one of the few therapeutic beaches with mineral water in Sofia. The site forms part of the National Hospital for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. Adjacent to it is one of the few therapeutic beaches with warm mineral water in Sofia, which is open during the sunny months of the year. The beach covers an area of around 3 decares and features three pools (large, small and children’s).

The large outdoor pool is surrounded by greenery, giving it a sense of seclusion from the bustling city. To the east flows the Vladayska River, whilst to the west the beach borders a lovely park. The entrance to the pool is adorned with a sculpture depicting a reclining holidaymaker. The pool is fed by hypothermal mineral water at a temperature of 29–31 degrees Celsius, which treats problems of the musculoskeletal system, the peripheral nervous system, the circulatory system, skin conditions, venous insufficiency and more.

Local residents and regular visitors have been hoping for years for an indoor swimming pool that they can use in winter too. For now, however, the therapeutic summer here remains a seasonal affair – everything takes place between May and September, and that is part of its charm.
